The Power of Music

First, unemployment does a number on one's self esteem. Second, be warned that this update is not about Kesiah. In between looking for employment, updating my skills, and being a husband/father, I still have time on my hands. Due to Album 88 (awarding winning college radio from Georgia State), I've found a new love for soul music. On one of my "soul searches" I came across a soul-inspired album from one of my favorite bands during the early 90's, the Charlatans UK. One song moves me in such a way (especially during this difficult time) that I find the need to share, even though Evin dislikes the vocalist's styling on this song. I've posted the lyrics, as I hear them, so you can see why I find it so moving. I hope you enjoy it (link to the song at the bottom):

A Man Needs to be Told by The Charlatans

A man needs to be told there is a world going on
There is a world going on
There is a world going on
A man needs to be told to look into the light
Or he can get lost in the day
Or he can get lost in the night
A man needs to be told...

A young boy once told me I'd be an old man and I am only 15
It wasn't part of the plan
It wasn't part of the dream
Ever wonder how much the man who wrote White Christmas made?
How evolution began
How revolution was fake
A man needs to be told...

A man needs to be told there is a war going on
There is a war going on
There is a war going on
Every man needs to be told there is a truth in his eye
There's a rest in the dawn
There's a point in his life
And a man needs to be told...
